New Haven Manufacturers Association

One of the Chamber’s oldest affiliations, the New Haven Manufacturer’s Association (NHMA), was founded in 1913 as the Employers’ Association of New Haven County. NHMA is Greater New Haven’s most authoritative manufacturing resource that connects members with numerous process experts, legislative policy makers, networking contacts, workforce enhancement and trade schools.

The NHMA promotes and advocates causes important to the manufacturing community in the Greater New Haven region and beyond, educates members on topics of interest and best practices in their business, and provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and issues. Each organization serves on each other’s board of directors, which fosters a coordinated approach to job growth and workforce training.

The Chamber has long recognized the important role manufacturing plays in the region’s economy. Despite the growth of new technologies, manufacturing is still a core industry in this state. There are over 5,000 manufacturing companies in Connecticut, employing more than 200,000 workers who are paid more than $10 billion per year.  NHMA members currently employ more than 12,000 individuals.
